Now Brewing – manager, Product Analytics - Portfolio Management & Analytics! #tobeapartner

From the beginning, Starbucks set out to be a different kind of company. One that not only celebrated coffee and its rich tradition, but that also brought a feeling of connection. We are known for developing and supporting partners who share this passion and are guided by their service to others.

As a manager, Product Analytics – Portfolio Management & Analytics, you will . . .

Help shape our U.S. product portfolio! What do we sell, to whom, and how much? Our team sits at the heart of our business, and you will lend a hand in answering all these questions in a uniquely influential role spanning the entire product portfolio (Beverage, Food, and Lobby). You'll have the opportunity to build strategies for our future, learning what it takes to manage a business serving millions of customers tangible products every day. You will also partner closely with key stakeholders to identify and drive both organic and inorganic growth opportunities and uncover new ways of understanding our customers and answering our most pressing strategic challenges.

Here's what our team does and how your role will play a part:

Our Team's Mission – we deliver strategic recommendations rooted in business, customer, and partner intelligence that drive sustained growth in product portfolio sales and margin.

Support development of the Product Pulse, in partnership with Finance and Analytics & Insights teams. The Product Pulse is the authority for decisions on existing products; we evaluate the performance of our product strategy and identify opportunities to grow the business.

      · Develop hypotheses for performance drivers at the start of each cycle of the Product Pulse, drawing input from other parts of the Starbucks product organization

      · Coordinate quantitative and qualitative data collection across teams that support the Pulse including Market Research, Finance, and Analytics & Insights

      · Evaluate how our products are performing and their impacts on customer behavior, delivering recommendations that the enterprise acts on every promotion period

      · Engage with product teams at multiple levels to disseminate the resulting insights and recommendations

Steward the relationship between the Product Portfolio organization and Analytics & Insights organization to deliver next-generation insights about our customers and the products they love

      · Spearhead the development of repeatable, reliable methods to measure the impact that our products have on business performance and customer behavior

      · Conduct ad hoc strategic assessments to identify and size growth opportunities that span our full product portfolio

      · Maintain a suite of analytical tools that measure and monitor customer behavior and its impacts on our business, in partnership with vendors and the Analytics & Insights team

      On our team, we:

      • Act with integrity and accountability
      • Push boundaries and stimulate debate
      • Balance bias for action and rigor
      • Evaluate with an objective, portfolio lens
      • Craft impactful stories with data

      Job Qualifications

We'd love to hear from people with:

      • Minimum of 3 years of professional experience (analytics or consulting experience a plus)
      • Minimum of 3 years of experience building structured presentations that leverage analytics to tell a compelling story with impactful recommendations
      • Minimum of 3 years of experience in analytics and data-based storytelling
      • Minimum of 3 years of experience in financial analysis and quantitative modeling
      • Minimum of 3 years of experience and comfort in data extraction, building pipelines, manipulation, and visualization languages and tools (SQL, Tableau)
      • Ideal candidates would also have experience in scripting languages such as Python / R for applied statistics
      • Experience and comfort in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
      • Experience managing projects on a timeline with parallel workstreams and contributors
      • Keen business sense and strong critical thinking skills
      • Comfort with ambiguity and working cross-functionally
      • An ability to zoom into details as well as zoom out to the big picture
      • Above all, an insatiable curiosity, positive attitude, and growth mindset

  • About the company

Starbucks has an unusually human approach to business. We always figured that putting people before products just made good common sense. Our relationships with farmers yield the highest quality coffees. The connections we make in communities create a loyal following. Our ability to accomplish what we set out to do is based primarily on the people we hire - we call each other "partners." We are always focused on our people. Our story began in 1971. Back then we were a roaster and retailer of whole bean and ground coffee, tea and spices with a single store in Seattle’s Pike Place Market. Today, we are privileged to connect with millions of customers every day with exceptional products and more than 17,000 retail stores in over 55 countries.
