Now Brewing – director of intelligent demand and scenario planning! #tobeapartner

From the beginning, Starbucks set out to be a different kind of company. One that not only celebrated coffee and the rich tradition, but that also brought a feeling of connection. We are known for developing extraordinary leaders who share this passion and are guided by their service to others.

This exciting leadership role will be responsible to design, implement, and sustain a strategic initiative for the Starbucks enterprise, “Intelligent Demand and Scenario Planning” (IDSP).

IDSP is a transformational approach to demand planning focused on improving forecast quality through an enterprise-wide, integrative design facilitated with new technology and processes.

It is an investment in technology and business processes designed to improve demand forecast accuracy leveraging internal insights, machine learning, and predictive analytics.

The delivery of IDSP for GSC will improve or mitigate many of the current challenges, including:

      • Accuracy in the demand signal - translates into less waste, improves inventory turns, and leads to higher revenues
      • Agility in decision making – integrated forecasts, with demand as the base, leads to less time reconciling and improves decision quality.
      • Consistency in developing scenarios - improves the timing of feedback from suppliers which enhances our resiliency and responsiveness to the changing environment
      • Quality of analytics - improves as the team focuses on solutions versus data validation and reconciliation

While this is a demand planning focused effort, we are actively collaborating and connecting with teams across the enterprise, including Analytics & Insights, Finance, Product & Marketing, Supply Planning, International (EMEA, APAC, LATAM), and Channel

As a director of intelligent demand and scenario planning, you will…

      • Have full accountability to deliver the solution and benefits
      • Align and lead the team on phases for the deployment of functionality and process, and to implement
      • Own the operational relationship with our technology provider and 3rd party system integrator, for solutioning in the moment
      • Drive stakeholder engagement, and facilitated decisions on trade-offs
      • Facilitate proactive connection with cross-functional partners on key process changes (Product and Marketing, Finance, Distribution, S&OP, etc.)
      • Ensure appropriate linkages to other initiatives

      Job Qualifications

We'd love to hear from people with:

      • 8 years experience with Inventory Management
      • Forecasting
      • Leading Technology Transformation, including business case development, scoping, deployment, and change management
      • Sales and Operations Planning

  • About the company

Starbucks has an unusually human approach to business. We always figured that putting people before products just made good common sense. Our relationships with farmers yield the highest quality coffees. The connections we make in communities create a loyal following. Our ability to accomplish what we set out to do is based primarily on the people we hire - we call each other "partners." We are always focused on our people. Our story began in 1971. Back then we were a roaster and retailer of whole bean and ground coffee, tea and spices with a single store in Seattle’s Pike Place Market. Today, we are privileged to connect with millions of customers every day with exceptional products and more than 17,000 retail stores in over 55 countries.
